Verified Details and Technical Data of the News
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo introduced a new film texture option, but in my opinion it's a bit too much. On the other hand, Chromagraph Camera feels pretty excellent.
There have been attempts to improve iPhone photos for years, but they all feel a bit too heavy-handed in my opinion. Most camera apps for iPhone require you to enter settings. While this may be fine for certain settings, ultimately I want my iPhone to be just a point-and-shoot experience. If I wanted the perfect photo I would use my camera.
However, iPhone photos don't look quite as perfect out of the box. This is not a hardware limitation. If you take a RAW iPhone photo and edit it yourself, you can actually get surprisingly good results. Apple's camera app has poor default settings.
When Apple introduced the film grain feature on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo, I was actually quite interested. When I tried the iPhone 18 Pro for a short time, this was definitely my favorite camera feature of the phone. But for some reason the film look on the iPhone Duo seems a bit overdone.
