Yangwang, the luxury sub-brand of Chinese automotive giant BYD, officially introduced its new flagship Altior model, which aims to change the balance in the ultra-luxury automobile segment. Promising a range of up to 1,000 kilometers with its fully electric infrastructure, this new executive limousine draws attention with its huge dimensions and cabin that combines traditional handcraftsmanship with modern technology. The vehicle, which is the product of a three-year comprehensive R&D process, directly targets the top level of the global luxury car market.
Colossal Sizes and Details of Traditional Chinese Art
Yangwang Altior is positioned as one of the most imposing sedans on the roads with its length of 5.60 meters, width of 2.03 meters, height of 1.59 meters and a wheelbase of 3.50 meters. While designing the body proportions of the vehicle, they were inspired by the bronze "ding" vessels used in ceremonies during the Ancient Chinese period. The grille at the front is equipped with special decorative components that produce different reflections depending on the angle of incidence of light.
The model, which has a special cabin setup for four people, has two independent seats with massage function, leg support and adjustable to zero gravity position at the back. While passengers traveling in the rear are offered a very large legroom of 1,209 millimeters, the front passenger seat can be folded with a single touch, increasing the spaciousness and visibility of the rear section. In the interior, first-class leather materials are accompanied by yellow-toned Hotan jade, wood veneers, traditional Suzhou embroideries and a 21.4-inch multimedia screen.
Competition and User Experience in the Ultra Luxury Segment
Although BYD Group Vice President Stella Li emphasizes that the new model bears deep traces of Chinese culture, the general silhouette of the vehicle resembles the characteristic design language of well-established manufacturers such as Rolls-Royce. Yangwang Altior; It comes on the scene to grab a share from high-end competitors in the market such as Rolls-Royce Ghost, Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and Maextro S800. The high level of rear seat comfort and long range capacity offered by the vehicle constitute a strong alternative to traditional European brands, especially for senior executives and luxury enthusiasts looking for an official car with a chauffeur.
